Sometimes wrist pain can be overlooked, but your chronic joint pain could be bursitis. Wrist bursitis can make life stressful, prohibiting you from simple daily activities such as getting dressed, writing, and even turning a door knob.
Wrist bursitis can result from a number of things, but it is more common in athletes who participate in baseball, golf, tennis, or other activities that involve flexing the wrist. Wrist bursitis is more common in athletes because of the repetitive motion, and 9% of all athletic injuries involve the wrist.
One of the most notable symptoms is a small lump with swelling on top of the wrist, with pain in joint when the wrist is bent backward or excessive weight is put on it. If you are experiencing these symptoms, have it checked out with your doctor to avoid further damage.

After weeks of pain, you finally visit your doctor and you’re diagnosed with bursitis. “Well, okay,” you say. “Now I know that these are bursitis pains. Well, what’s a bursa?” Maybe the technical terms used didn’t give you a full explanation of bursitis, so here it is.
A bursa is a small sac that contains fluid. This fluid is released to lubricate your joints. This allows your joints to move freely. When a bursa is injured for whatever reason, the fluid is no longer released and there is no lubrication. Now, the bone and tendons cause friction when you move. This friction causes pain in joints, making it difficult to function.
The good news is that there are medications and treatments available to combat bursitis pain. I hope this bit of information gives you a better understanding of bursitis.

Did you know that treatment for hip bursitis does not have to involve surgery? In fact, many people with hip bursitis can experience relief with simple lifestyle changes. If you’re saying to yourself, “I’m tired of hip pain and I’m not going to take it anymore,” there are a few remedies that you can try for treatment for hip pain.
Modifying your activities to relieve the pressure on your hips. This helps relieve the pain. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen or naproxen to help control the swelling. Natural alternative medications like Celadrin to help lubricate the joints and prevent the friction that causes pain. Use of crutches or a cane to take the weight off your hip when you ambulate. Joint therapy to learn how to stretch your hip muscles, as well as heat, ice, or ultrasound therapy.
Surgery should be a last resort, and you want to consider alternative options before making that final decision.
